Pepper Steak Sauce

Steak and mushroom sauceServes 4
Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 15mins

Ingredients:

Method:

  1. Heat a non-stick fry pan over a high heat. Cook the steaks for 3 mins each side, remove from the pan, wrap in foil and keep warm.
  2. Using a small saucepan heat a small amount of water and cook the mushrooms till soft
  3. Add the garlic and pepper and sauté for 1 minute. Poor in the beef stock and simmer until reduced by a third.
  4. Whisk in the philly and sweetener and simmer until thickened.
  5. Poor over your steak, serve immediately.

Tip: The sauce keeps well in the fridge, make a large batch and store in small containers than can be reheated in the microwave.

    1.  Hi Chere, I use the natural Stevia sweetener its plant based. I am wary of aspartame.
      The beef stock is a power from Continental. It does have a small amount of rice flour in it but the amount I use shouldn't make too big of a difference.

  3.  THIS was a godsend! I don't know why i've not made it until now, when i've been on this diet for about 3 months (on and off - as life throws things at you lol). I'm not sure by having this if it's slowed my loss but honestly, right now i don't care lol It was a flavor sensation to my tired bored taste buds. Definitely better with chicken though.   7.  Thank you so much for compiling some recipes for this, I'm glad there are people out there more creative than I am. You mentioned that you use Stevia, was that in this recipe? The stevia I have is very strong, it seems like 1tsp would be a lot.

    1.  I'm really struggling. I've kept to the diet. I've been having oat bran for breakfast with fish for lunch and chicken or fish for dinner. I've been doing it 3 days and have gained weight not lost it. I feel very disheartened right now

  14.  Hiya, I am on day three of the Attack Phase. I'll be honest. I am in struggle town. I think I'm losing the weight slowly because I've been too put off by pure protein I barely feel like eating. Or is the pure protein being very affective and minimising my appetite? All in all.     Protein is very filling and takes longer to digest. Have you measured yourself? Sometimes the weight loss won't show up on the scales but maybe you lost an inch?

  17.  This was fantastic! Soooo good I wish I had this recipe pre-dukan! Didn't use sweetener Going to have it again today no mushrooms, less pepper, more garlic and have it has Garlic Prawns.
