My weight-loss goals are:
I am 163cm tall and 26 yrs old. The heaviest I have ever been is 76.5kg, the lightest 58kg.

Weight: 73.5kg
Phase: ATTACK
So I've done a bit of research online and think I have the basics of this diet figured out, I haven't got the book yet but will do the best I can with the info I can find online. The Dukan website suggests a 2 day attack phase for me.
Breakfast: Herb omelette - 1 yolk, 2 whites. 1 coffee no sugar
Lunch: Chicken breast oven baked with herbs
Dinner: Beef Stroganoff - no pasta
Snacks: Lots of yoghurt to fill my sugar cravings
Exercise: 1 hr Zumba DVD
Weight: 73kg (-.5kg)
Phase: ATTACK
Whoo a half kg loss, that was unexpected, I'm pretty sure it's fluid loss but I'll take it! I'm finding drinking the recommended 1.5Litres of water easy, I cary a drink bottle everywhere. Feeling optimistic and off to the shops today to buy supplies.
Breakfast: Herb omelette- 1 yolk, 2 whites. 1 coffee no sugar
Lunch: Chicken breast in a yogurt & curry dressing oven baked
Dinner: meatballs with yoghurt and dill dressing.
Snack: Made the pancake for the first time today, I was pleasantly surprised! And diet custard.
Exercise: 20min Zumba DVD
Weight: 72kg (-1kg)
Phase: Protein + Veg
Wow a whole 1kg in one day is crazy! I was so excited to see it, I have been trying to get down to 72 for 5 months feels great to see it on the scales. With results like this I feel so motivated.
Breakfast: Bacon, tomato, asparagus omelette with a naughty half cup of orange juice.
Lunch: Oatbran crumbed chicken, and cream cheese chicken oven baked. 3 leftover meatballs
Dinner: Beef stew with sweet potato, pumpkin, carrot, capsicum, mushrooms, onion,
Snacks: coffee, yoghurt, custard.
Dessert: Few spoons of Dukan cheesecake, a pancake (added cinnamon and sweetener) 1 oat cookie.
Exercise: 20min walk in the park
Weight: 71.5kg (-.5)
Phase: Protein only (had veggies with dinner because I was not at home)
Tonight is my first meal out of the house and I'm scared! I have phoned ahead and let them know I'm off the carbs but there are other things that could be lurking like oil, cornflour and sugar.Good news I resisted the mashed potato!
Breakfast: bacon & herb omelette, coffee
Lunch: steak & herbs
Dinner: Beef shanks with veggies
Snacks: half pancake, 1 cookie
Dessert: Moose
Exercise: Zumba DVD 1 hour
weight: 71.9 (+0.4)
Phase: Protein + Veg
Well that's disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. I was praying for a small loss or break even... Well can't give up now just going to try harder, but not sure what went wrong, the veggies on my protein only day obviously was bad.
Today I had a stressful day at work and ate the whole Dukan cheesecake I made to make me feel better, well that was a bad plan and made me feel sick. Also had a chocolate moose and bran cookies... right food wrong quantities.
Tonight is another challenge, we are going out with friends for Thai! We usually bring a bottle of wine and have coconut rice so this was a big deal to refuse. I did stay strong and had a stir fry veggies, i did cheat with a few cashew nuts, corn and honey in the dressing.
Breakfast: omelette with bacon, tomato, mushroom, spring onion, asparagus, capsicum, bacon.
Lunch: Dukan Pizza
Dinner: Thai Restaurant - Chicken stir fry with cashews
Snack: Ate all cheesecake, chocolate moose, oat bran cookie.
Exercise: Zumba DVD 20min
Weight: 71.7
Phase: Protein only
Yay the loss is coming back down which is nice. Another challenging day with offers of lunch out, going to the cinemas, sushi and to a birthday party where chips and pizza taunted me all night. My stomach was grumbling so loud with the thought of it, it has a mind of its own! I did stay strong again, not one bite of any carb and am so proud. In the beginning I promised I would do 10 days at least with out giving up so far so good!
Breakfast: Pancake with cinnamon and sweetener, coffee, diet cordial
Lunch: Chicken & cream cheese oven baked
Dinner: 2 x Chicken muffins
Dessert: 1 diet moose
Snack: 1 dukan chocolate, 2 diet red bulls
Exercise: None - time got away from me today.
Weight: 71.5kg (-0.2kg)
Phase: Protein + Veg
Today both lunch and dinner left me feeling hungry immediately after finishing, it took some exercise after lunch to get rid of that. Now its about 20mins after dinner and I am feeling hungry, I know I'm full but my signals are messed up.
Breakfast: Left over dukan pizza from Friday, coffee
Lunch: salad with 1 steak beef soy sauce, sweetener and asian spices.
Dinner: Tofu & Pumpkin stirfry
Dessert: Hot chocolate
Snacks: green tea, 1 pancake with cinnamon and sweetener
Exercise: 20min Zumba DVD , 10 min arm workout with Hand-weights
Total weight loss: 2.1kg
I'm pretty happy with how week 1 has went, I managed to stick to the diet as best I can and refuse temptations in social situations (this is new). People still try to offer you food & alcohol you can't have but it's all a test of self control and the will to make it work this time. I will continue this diet for another week and make a judgment call on where to from there. Why not commit to the full program? I am wary of any health issues from a high protein diet, some symptoms I have had are headaches, aching bones, muscle cramps and bad sleep. I am taking calcium, fish oil and multivitamin supplements to support my body through this program. Therefore I want to take this one week at a time.

Hi there,
I make a baked custard for our family of 4, hubby is doing the Dukan as well and the kids add maple syrup over theirs.
Baked custard:
4 eggs
500ml skim milk
1t vanilla essence
Sweetener as required over individual portions
Heat the milk in microwave
Beat the eggs and vanilla in a separate bowl
Quickly stir the eggs into warm milk
Bake the mixture in a Pyrex bowl that is set in a tray of warm water (bain marie)
160 degrees Celsius
1 hour
Easiest treat ever!

I found a great recipe for Dukan "ice cream" and it's so fantastic, I had to share!
Mix 1 regular size package of Sugar Free Jello Instant Pudding with 1 pint low fat or fat free liquid whipping cream until the mixture is well combined and thickened. I portioned it off in a muffin tin (makes 12 portions) and froze it but you can also freeze it in a plastic tub for scooping.
It freezes pretty solid so leave the plastic tub out on the counter for 15min for easier scooping or if you portioned them in a muffin tin, spray the back of the tin with hot tap water to release easy and restore in the the ice cream bites in a tub in the freezer.
I have made chocolate, vanilla and then I experimented and mixed a vanilla flavor with apple pie spice...all are soooo good but the chocolate is outstanding!!
Enjoy!

Hi Laurence - try stevia, either as a concentrate which is expensive but you need only a few drops, or in sugar like form. Almost zero carbs and because it comes from a plant source, it's safe.

Just started attack today. All the comments so far have been very encouraging. Did Atkins years ago after having extra 2-3 stone after kids. Although successful I always worried about how unhealthy it was- eating all that cheese, cream in coffee etc. Cholesterol nightmare! Anyway, off to buy supplies now, my kids can have what I'm eating but with rice, pots, pasta. So, plenty of good lean food hopefully. Wish me luck ! Hope UK supermarkets sell oat bran !!

Claire, I am lactose intolerant also. I buy lactose free milk here in USA. It's expensive compared to regular milk, but I am a milk drinker. You can make your own yogurt using lactose free milk! And then hang it up in a piece of cheesecloth to drain to make it Greek yogurt. Look online to find a recipe to make yogurt--it's easy.

Hi Everyone,
Congratulations on your efforts. I started Dukan Diet on 5/22 and I am now in consolidation phase, having lost 19.5 pounds. I lost one pound in consolidation phase. I am not sure how- but it has happened. Above all I am vegetarian and I have a found a way around Protein only days. Two weeks into the cruise phase I had to attend a wedding out of town so that knocked of 4 days off the diet so to speak. But, I continued to lose although I couldn't follow the pp/pv for those days. At least one of the meals on those fourdays had eveyrthing - like a celebration meal- But I just had a bite of this and bite of that and all day long had focused on keeping it a protein only.
The key to losing weight in this program ( I don't like the word 'diet'- Pierre Dukan ought to change it to wellness program.) is exercise- water and oat bran and keeping fat and carb as per advice as best as you can.
I started doing water aerobics which really helps you shed those unwanted pounds . I had a foot injury and could not walk or do other exercises involving the feet. Now Everything feels so much better with all the extra weight gone. In the beginning I had some craving to have sweet stuff ( although I don't typically eat desserts). I started making some vietnamese soy pudding with agar and agar and it was satisfying. Now I don't crave for anything sweet, but occasionally crave for something crunchy- like crackers or chips. So instead of two slices of bread I have a cracker ( with low carb or low fat) .
So, although it's a good idea and easier to follow what the official Dukan advicers tell you- once you start losing weight and keep up with the daily exercise - do something- for 20-30 minutes and do more on some days ( as an insurance against the days you may slip up). Go for a walk, or go shopping- play some music and do some dance to 5 songs- whatever- keep doing something- never listen to that voice- that says, may be you can skip today- talk back to your mind like you would to a child who is not listening to you and say, " No you may not- get moving". and it works. It really works. I have substituted some foods because it's very difficult to do a pure protein with vegetarian diet. So if I can do it anyone can.
With much Love,
Dorothy.

Hi my name is Tere and I am a polynesIian New Zealander born but live in Melbourne, Australia. Today is the start of the new me with Dr Dukan. My culture puts on weight very easily and this is why i have decided to try this. I have enjoyed reading the comments while enjoying my herb chicken and egg lunch with herb salad sprinkle nd a teeny bit of dressing. I am 5' 5" and weigh 92kg. My friends commented i hide the weight well. My aim is lose 1/2 kilo a week however if i lose less or more it doesnt matter. The point is I will enjoy this first week. I feel empowered and happy I can do this. I have been on several diets (hate this word) and i am a very socialable person, out with friends alot to dinners/bars etc. So it will be a massive test for me tonight when i go out. I'm fine without alcohol but food is my weakness. But I'm sure with careful planning b4 dinner tonight i can do it. watch this space :)

Hi guys
I have read all the comments on the site and feel like I may have a new family. I am starting the Dukan diet today. I am without a book yet which is on order and should come in a few days but my head space was ready to tackle the weight issue today. I have had some chicken for breakfast quite plain as I am not sure what I am to do so did not want to take any risks. Off to the shops for the skim milk, yoghurt , fish etc I got the beef and chicken yesterday. I would like to wish everyone luck and I would like to enjoy the journey with everyone. Oh one thing what is with the oatbran - do I eat it by itself or with something and how much? :)
PS I am 69.6 kilos today and my goal is 61.6 which the website says I should lose by Nov 2011. I am on a mission to look fabulous for my 50th Birthday

Suzanne - not a complete fail at all. I was getting a headache too so had a black coffee. Not sure if that is okay yet as I am waiting for my book.
I had a bit of a blip - I thought the website said 5 tbsp of oat brand but it was 1.5 - not sure what that is going to do for the attack phase. I may add an extra one. I have been okay - not hungry.

Hi, I am on my 3rd day and have lost 1.8kgs! Wow! I have lost 10kgs with weight watches but found when they pushed pro-points I started gaining from all the fruit. I have maintained my weight loss since Feb but am now ready to shift the last 12kgs. I had an omlette for breakfast this morning and am feeling a little sick but am about to have a pepermint tea and that should settle things. This website is great! Thank you for making the diet easier to understand while waiting for the book to arrive.

Nettie, baked custard? Where did you get that recipe?
I've lost 2 kilos this week! Lost them in the first 5 days and now I've hit a plateau but I went to the gym this morning so will hopefully have lost another kilo by tomorrow =D
Suzanne: you haven't failed! Just wait a few days and try again. And then when you feel really hungry then just dig into your proteins! I felt like that yesterday so I had a a bit of a binge =*) But with only protein stuff! And you could save the galette for when you feel like a "more substantial" thing to eat. For those of you who don't have the book yet: 11/2 tablespoon of oat bran/ wheat bran. 1 1/2 tablespoons of fromage frais/ fat free cottage cheese, and 1 egg. Salt or aritifical sweetener depending on your taste. Then you fry it like a normal pancake, but in a drop of oil that has been wiped with kitchen paper. It's really nice for breakfast! The protein sauces in the book have also really been my saving grace - wow! Anyone want some in the meantime? Keep going everyone =D

Hilary did you find the baked custard recipe. I found it on this blog - if you scroll up you will see it. You and I must be on the same path. I am day 5 and lost 2 kilos. I am going to go onto the P+V either tomorrow or the next day. I have not slipped up yet but today is the first day that I have struggled a little bit. probably would like either a glass of wine or fruit. I am not going to though - thanks for the reminder about the pancakes - I may do those in the morning or maybe a mushroom omlette. Good luck too!

I also 'cheated' this weekend - was at a 21st and there wasn't any 'protein and veg only' to eat, and I was soooo hungry! But I did avoid the cake thank goodness! Aaah well, point is to get back in the saddle so well done to us! I'm too scared to step back on the scale, but doing 3 days of proten only and then will see. My mom bought sugar free cocoa, so I've been having chocolate yohgurt - yum! Enjoy ur week too =)

Hi, Just thought I would let anyone out there like me know that sometimes you know when you are carrying too much weight even if no one else would really know. I couldn't get coaching on the Dukan as they recommended that I am in the ideal weight range.I have gradually put on about 12.8 kgs over many years. I started a little underweight at 47kg height 159cm and am now 59.8. My ideal weight is about 53kg.

Hi Patrizia =)
I'm from South Africa, and my mom and I got the book from Exclusive Books; and I'm sure it is available to order over the internet - definenately worth it! But this website also has the 100 foods and the exercises and everything to get you started =).
Welcome Jasmine! This diet is magic =).
How is everyone doing? I must admit I had a tough week last week - didn't really exercise and was sooo tempted to cheat! Especially since I felt sick, and when I get sick, my main comfort food - toast is always what I crave! And then I gave in and had 2 pieces =(. Was so tempted with everything for the rest of the weekend lol. But anyway, luckily, my family is being really supportive and I cheated a bit more, but managed to have mostly protein. And yesterday I went for a 20 min walk, and made sure that I took the stairs at every oppurtunity at the shops, and voila! Still lost a kilo! So glad cz I was too scared to even get onto the scale. So my point is: don't give up everyone! If you have a bad moment, then don't dwell on it - just get back in the saddle! (or on the scale=P) Have a great week! =D

Hi Penny - dink lots of water and use wheat bran in your pancake instead of oatbran, or with your oat bran. You can even mix it with yogurt and make a porridge. Also, I've been eating lots of yohgurt - haven't even been having wheat bran lately, and I've been fine. Hope that helps!

I think your website rocks and think its going to help me to do this.
I am going to start on Monday, I'm the heavyest I have ever been 74 kilos and its making me very unhappy. I think my happy weight is around 60. My clothes don't fit and even worse I'm a ski instructor and my kit no longer fits I have until January to sort this out! I saw a picture of myself recently at my happy weight and I have a face with cheek bones and a chin, I want to go back to that face and that fit body I had so wish me luck as I dive in to Dukan.

Hi...I am loving this diet. Is very easy for me to follow and I dont have hunger pangs. Started on Monday 7 November. I dont like fish very much but like prawns and tuna. On attack I have eaten Chicken breasts cooked in maggie so juicy mixed herbs - only used 1/4 bag for 8 chicken breasts. Had this hot & cold with extra light philly or cottage cheese. Also had prawns & cottage cheese with black pepper on. I put my oatbran in fat free vanilla yoghurt. Lots of black coffee with sweenter and lots of water. I have lost 10lbs so far..amazing. Will keep you all posted. Best Diet in the world EVER!! x

I am thrilled to see the success stories. I am on day 6 of attack - but am not sure how much I have lost. I have lost however - probably 5 - 6 pounds. Unlike many of you lucky folks, I have LOTS of weight to lose. I started somewhere around 220lbs and my ideal weight is suppose to be around 147lbs based on my age, bone structure, etc (that is from Dukan's true weight). So that's 73lbs. Anyone taken that kind of weight off? How long did it take if you followed the diet and walked every day? I am 48 years young and have NEVER been this heavy before. Well, other than last week when I started the diet - Yea!! Thanks.......Vicky

I have been on this diet now since NOvember 7th also. I have lost 6.4 pounds and am amazed as usually the first week of any diet (and I have been on too many) I only lose a couple of pounds. However, I am spending a LOT of time searching out recipes and don't feel "in control" of the diet yet. I've done everything suggested except the exercise and need to build that up. It is interesting to see that others have also been really successful with this diet.
As others have reported, no hunger pains, and i am satisfied with what I eat, although I do crave some things still.

HI all- well just done a week of attack and lost 300g? Followed the instructions to the tee and included 60 mins walk per day- which is 30 mins more than normal. Into the cruise phase and hoping to see better loss than this. Have 20kg to lose. I have measured fluid intake and output- these match more or less, am concerned about cruise if I only lost 300g in attack. Any experiences of this? I also started this diet on Monday 2nd as my friend has had great results on it. I woke up this morning (friday) and have lost 8lbs whoop whoop especially as I want to lose 28lbs in total. I do think its important to drink the water and eat plenty of what you should eat otherwise your body may go into starvation mode and store the fat. I dont have a clue Beth with regards to your gain (is it possibly a monthly thing?) I can nomally gain up to 7lbs during that time. Good luck everyone. and for those that havent tried the tandoori chicken recipe and missing the curry nights its really nice :-)

Gained 5 lbs back at Christmas so have to go back to Attack for a few days now. All the goodies are gone so now I can focus on only protein for a few days and have to get out and walk. That is the hardest thing for me as I don't like walking alone just for the sake of walking. I tried mall walking last week but wow the mall was packed and I needed a blocker like in football to get through. Have to go at a different time but also walk fast enough not see anything so as not to be tempted by the window displays. You are all doing so great it is encouraging.

I started on 3rd Jan at 83.1 kilos. As of this morning (day 9) I have reached 80.1 kilos. Bit disappointing that I put on a few 100 grammes over yesterday when I did an hour's tap dancing but my (very limited) experience is that the weight loss isn't even or consistent. I suspect that hormones and digestive function play a part too. Still the results are impressive and reading through all of your comments it seems that we're all experiencing similar things - it's good to have that encouragement. My target weight is 65 kilos which I should reach just after Easter - looking forward to it. Good luck all.

Hi I started the Dukan on 20 June 2011, I weighed 9st 10lbs (61.8 kg) I bought the Dukan book and read it avidly, I was also encouraged by my son and daughter-in-law who achieved amazing results. Just before Christmas I had achieved my goal ,and more, as I weighed in at 8st 5lbs (53 kg). I now weight 8st 10lbs (55kg) having put on a few pounds over Christmas. I am now, and just for this week, eating only oatbran, proteins, plenty of water and no alcohol. I need to keep on track due to my small frame of 5' 2" and the fact that I can get into size 8 jeggings! Nothing is worth piling the pounds on for. I am a strict vegetarian (lacto-ovo) and NO fish. I couldn't have done it without eggs and textured soya protein (TSP)and apart from the boredom factor it worked for me. Stick at it all of you it is well worth it! I have an amazing tip for you all - I kept an excel record all colour coded for the 4 phases. Every single day I recorded my weight in the morning, then in the evening what I had eaten, and drank and any exericse. At the end of each week I added up what I had lost, and over the weeks kept a running total - this made me feel organised and interested, and the rare time I cheated there it was in black and white! I still glance at it and cannot believe the results I achieved sooner than was anticipated. Good luck. ps I am not conversant in converting stones and lbs to kgs so hope accurate enough.

Hi Cathy,
I hope that you have read the book first. It will help you to understand how the diet works and then you will be better prepared for it and more likely to stick with the diet.
*You will be able to have certain vegetables in the Cruise phase (phase 2) every second day.
*Fruits are not allowed until the Consolidation phase (phase 3). But you are allowed to have low fat no sugar added yogurts with fruit bits starting in the Cruise phase. This is considered a tolerated food and you're allowed 2 tolerated foods per day. If you stagnate then you must stop eating this yogurt with fruit bits.
*You can also have 100 grams of stewed rhubarb with no sugar added on a pure protein day (PP day) or 200 grams on a protein and vegetable day (PV day). This is a tolerated food as well. So if you want a serving of rhubarb then you can only have one yogurt with fruit bits.
*You are allowed to have 1 Tbsp. of goji berries per day on the Attack phase. Then on the Cruise phase you can have 1 Tbsp. on your PP days and 2 on your PV days.
*You can drink up to 3 cans of coke zero per day as part of your 1.5 to 2 litres of water required or any other diet drink as long as it is 1 calorie or less and doesn't have any fruit juice in it. This is allowed on all phases.

Does that fruit tea have fruit juice in it or is it just flavouring? If it contains fruit juice it is not allowed.

Hi Tracy,
Not everyone loses at the same rate.. It is recommended to weigh yourself daily. It is a good idea to measure yourself also as sometimes you will loses inches even when nothing shows on the scales.

That's great that you lost 9 lbs. But keep in mind that part of that loss would have been water weight. During the Cruise phase it is normal for your weight to go up and down or stay the same weight for awhile. Carrots have a higher sugar content, so only have 1 serving per week (200g per week)
Look here for a list of reasons why we might stop losing weight and what to do about it:

Hi everyone , i'm on my second week of the cruise phase. i only had 13 pounds to loose but have lost 7 already. i have suffered from ibs for many years even being hospitalised and i'm happy to say that my tummy is now really good and flat, this diet is suiting me and i love the recipies. I am also a chocoholic and now have no cravings at all, not even for my wine. also people keep commenting on how fresh and glowing my skin is, prob down to clean eating and lots of water. it has even given me more energy as ive had M.E in the past so i say it's a thumbs up all round

Hello Everyone :)
I'm from Manchester in England and I'm so happy I've found this website with all your inspirational comments. I am starting the Dukan diet tomorrow and am desperate for it to work after tryng and failing so many times before.
After quitting smoking 3 years ago I turned to junk food to cope with stress and have gradually put on weight - I just don't feel like myself anymore. I stubbled across the book by accident and the research sounds good! Hope I can make it work for me too!
Will keep you posted... xxx

Hi there. What an amazing site. The recipes are miles better than anything in the dukan diet book. I'm on my 4th day and I've lost 5lbs which is amazing as I only weighed 8 stone 6lbs to start with. I am getting married in one month I have my wedding dress fitiing on Friday. 3 weeks ago the dress was too small. Here's for hoping it fits on Friday. Keep up the good work everyone and I'm trying the custard recipe tomorrow sounds yummy

Hi there - This diet is amazing. This is day 5 for me and i have lost 2 kilos (almost 4lbs) without starving myself. The Dukan pancakes are great and very filling. It's so wonderful to see the weight fall off so quickly, it gives you strength and confidence to keep going and NOT STOP. Goodluck to everyone....

wow its interesting to see how everyone is so different in the way that they go about the Dukan Diet. I think i am being overly cautious and perhaps a little harsh on myself because i have lost 13Kilos in 3 weeks, im not exercising as much as i should but its still working for me. :)

Jen - Dr. Dukan does not recommend protein shakes for the diet. Have some fish, or grilled meat, a boiled egg, cottage cheese or yogurt instead.
